Insecticides can be organic, synthetic, inorganic, or miscellaneous compounds.

Application
Insecticides can be systemic or contact:

Systemic insecticides: Absorbed by plants and can move throughout the plant, making some or all of the plant toxic to insects.

Contact insecticides: Remain on the surface of a leaf and act when an insect comes into direct contact with them. They are effective quickly but may need to be reapplied.
